How do i decorate my purple teen room to look cute and preppy?

okay my room is purple, its very plain. my furniture is new but its VERY dark cheery, just like my hardwood floors, and my room is not so big, its also not a square shape. 2 of the walls are straight then the other wall is slanted and then there is half a small wall then 2 tiny walls that lead to my door. its confusing, basically i have like 6 walls. my moldings, window, panels, door, everythigs white. and my dresser contains nothing on it.all i have is a queen sized bed against the wall, a mirror dresser along the slanted wall and then a nightstand by my closet. how can i decorate? what other colors should i use? i have some purple candels and vases and stuff like that. what should my bed spreads and comforter be like? i dont wanna put posters up of random things, i like black and white stuff too. BREAKFAST AT TIFFANYS. audrey hephburn. that stuff! what color framed should i do? and what should i put on my night stand? im CLUELESS!

thankss.

Your room sounds very interesting and very fun to try to decorate. Here are few ideas %26amp; fyi's that I hope will help you out.

Purple stands for luxury, dignity, wealth %26amp; sophistication. Its a fun color to use with metalics and will match well with your furniture as long as you use it with a lighter or very bright shade of purple. You dont want to use deep plums if your room is small.

Now you want a preppy style with maybe Black %26amp; white photos.

Preppies are described as confident, not afraid to express thier own styles and are daring in thier fashions. They also may not match but are always coordinated.

In other words using purple as your base for design along with a preppy style you decoration potential are limitless. You can have a very fun and eclectic room

Purple and green are the opposite colors so its perfect combo. Add a hint of pink, blue or both to add that variety. Use the white and or silver as your accent colors. I would suggest to paint an accent wall. Have your two walls dedicated as your black %26amp; white movie style pictures. Use basic black frames for them. You can usually buy the frames for cheap if you stick with the plastic black ones. This will also draw the attention to the pic not the frame. You might want to use one horizontal stripe on two sides of the room to make it longer. Vertical to make it taller. Use a solid purple color comforter with plaid, square or flowery styled pillows

Best place for comforters for the color scheme you want are Walmart %26amp; Target. Black %26amp; white pics is target. For lamps and maybe some shelving, Bed Bath %26amp; Beyond.

Of course trying to figure out your room with out looking at it, Im only guessing here but if your walls are small by your entry door, add two long mirrors. If the window is opposite from your door, natural light will bounce from them and make the room appear larger. Also the mirrors can be written on with dry erase board markers could be used for msg's, reminders or important dates.

For your windows, drapes can be soft and sheer. One idea you can do is find sheer material to drape across and over the window. Another way is to find an inexpensive shower curtain, perferebly sheer. maybe a white one, cut 4" of ribbon (fun and colorful maybe even feathery) tie around the holes of the shower curtain (leaving enough room for it to slide back and forth on the curtain rod.) glue on flowers or sequences. You will have your very own unique curtain.

As far as adding on to your dresser. If you have no room for a desk or anything else. I would suggest a small thin reading lamp on your night stand. Pictures of your friends are another great idea or a fish bowl with a blue or purple betta. Dresser top should be free of clutter. However simpled framed pictures, your most used items, your candles etc can go on here.

I hope these ideas helped inspire you.

Happy Purple Decorating.
