What will happen to the queen?

i am not interested in politics that much but i saw last nights news in UK where i live that the new australian prime minister can remove the queen, how can this be and what will happen to the country?

What will happen to the queen?
He can remove her as Queen of Australia, but not of anywhere else. She will carry on and on and on and on
Reply:What has to happen is that he must call a referendum first, then if most of the population agree Australia would become a Republic and have a president and dissolve itself from the Dominion states.
Reply:He can remove her by picking her up-lierally, and moving her!
Reply:thats bol locks,dont beleive it
Reply:She's nothing but a prop and a tourist attraction.
Reply:I think you will find he can only refuse to accept her as Queen of Australia! She will still be Queen of everywhere else she governs.
Reply:Australia COULD possibly become a republic. That is up to them. Let's hope GB does too.

A nation can be a republic and remain in the Commonwealth (eg Pakistan, India, etc)
Reply:He can only remove her as Queen of Australia. The country will live on an so will the Queen and her other territories.

It's overdue of you ask me.
Reply:Nothing will happen to the Queen as a result of Labour gaining power in the recent Australian Election. She remains Head of State of the United Kingdom and Head of the Commonwealth.

Previously in a national referendum in 1999 a proposal to make Australia a republic was defeated. 54.7% of Australian voters voted in favour of Australia retaining the British monararchy as Australia's Head of State. Australia can not now therefore change to being a Repuiblic without a further referendum.
