Scottish Songs / Tunes for Burns Night?

Happy Burns Night R%26amp;P :)

I'm bringing the whisky, so what Scottish songs / tunes will you all be playing here at my celebration of Rabbie's birth?

My must haves :~

"The Queen of Argyll" ~ Silly Wizard

"Monymusk Lads" ~ Old Blind Dogs

"Dean Cadalan / Servant to the Slave" ~ Capercaillie

"Gie's A Drink" ~ Deaf Shepherd

"The Gathering Storms" ~ Ross Kennedy %26amp; Archie McAllister

Fantastic version of the song.
Reply:John Barleycorn - Fairport Convention

Isabel - Steeleye Span (this one always brings a tear to me eye, a powerful song of a proud Scotland!)

Hal-an-Tow - The Oyster Band

Scotland's Story - The Proclaimers

Wages Day - Deacon Blue
Reply:Congratulations, Silver!! :-)

"Two Little Boys" sung by Ewen Bremner in the Movie "Trainspotting"

"All Tomorrow's Parties" by Nico (not a Scottish song, but a Gaelic motif is used in its writing)

:
Reply:how about some rod stewart? isn't he of scottish descent? pardon my ignorance if not.
Reply:Aww, I love the Skye Boat song...and Rowan Tree...and Robin Adair :) (believe it or not, I was once in a drums and pipes band...a pretty peculiar thing to find along the Meixcan border)

Nonetheless, these are my submissions:

"Sleep The Clock Around" by Belle %26amp; Sebastian (listen to the pipes at the end of this tune...gives you goosebumps)

"Aye Today" The Delgados

and

"Tiny Little Fractures" by Snow Patrol

Happy Robert Burns Night!
Reply:Would McCartney's "Mull of Kintyre" count?
Reply:I have a love of most things Scottish, never had haggis though. I am a Ferguson on my mothers side I would also include some Fairport Convention and Steeleye Span, but I think some AC/DC songs would shake things up a bit. Happy Burns Night to you too
Reply:Flatfoot 56, Real McKenzies, and The Dropkick Murphys are good for that...bagpipes, electric guitar, mandolin....great stuff.
Reply:Is this only the fourth question ever asked by one Silver * Rose ~ Wolf? Just for that alone, I had to partake in this. Alas, I plead ignorance to all things associated with Burns Night. Knowing my madness, I'd be rewriting the rule book and going with Jesus %26amp; Mary Chain as well as some Garbage.

Happy Burns Night to you, don't do anything I wouldn't.
Reply:Happy Burns Night Silver

I am sorry, I don't know a thing about Sottish Music.

Which is, I know, inxescusable for a Man who's Great Grandfather's last name was Hargis.

All I can offer is My Scotts Heritage and a love of Whiskey
Reply:"Dirty Old Town" Originally done by Edwin McColl covered by the Pogues and many others. (Its a song about Glasgow but many think its about Dublin). Save some Haggis for me.

Reply:SKYE BOAT SONG

[traditional]

Speed bonny boat

Like a bird on the wing

"Onward" the sailors cry,

Carry the lad that's born to be king

Over the sea to Skye.

Loud the winds howl,

Loud the waves roar,

Thunder claps rend the air.

Baffled our foes stand by the shore.

Follow they will not dare.

Chorus

Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep

The ocean's a royal bed.

Rocked on the deep, Flora will keep

Watch by your weary head.

Many's the lad fought on that day,

Well the claymore could wield,

When the night came silently lay

Dead on Culloden's field.

Burnt are our homes:

Exile and death

Scatter the loyal men

Yet ere the sword cools in it's sheath

Charlie will come again.
Reply:camera obscura's 'I love my jean' and 'a red,red rose'.
