How do I move a large swarm of bees from a hollow concrete column to a bee hive.?

I have a square hollow column made of concrete blocks. Column is about 6 feet tall. Bees have taken up residence in the column which is roughly 10-inches square on the inside and have produced so much honey it's beginning to flow from a hole at the bottom of the column in the warm weather. The bees appear very docile and I would like to buy a starter bee hive kit and transfer the queen and her brood, then possibly retrieve the honey from the column. The bees are so plentiful now that thousands reside outside the column at night. Any ideas on how this can be accomplished. I'm assuming I'll need some sort of protective gear and a smoker to calm the bees.

I just watched a bee keeper do that. He used a box that he said was like a 5 star hotel for bees. It contained pheromones and other bee attractants inside. He was definitely wearing protective gear, including a face mask and a bee keeper uniform. He smoked the swarm of some 30,000 bees and the queen entered the first box. He used subsequent boxes after that until most of the hive was captured. He left the last box until after nightfall for the stragglers. I think you probably need professional help.
Reply:Any beekeepers in your area? I'll bet they could help you. That sounds like a scary amount of bees, docile or not.
Reply:Just take a big stick and beat on the hollow concrete until you make the bees really mad. Then have them chase you to the hive and pray they go inside the hive and not continue to chase you.

2 call a pest controller

3 try to inject almond essence into there workings..this should make them leave

4 blow in an insecticidal dust

it you try yourself be very care full
Reply:i knew a bee keeper when i was a kid and ill tell you find a bee keeper and learn from them. even if you arent allergic a multitude of bee stings can harm you. be safe and sane. heck you could even get a mentor bee keeping is an art! hope that helped
Reply:cheaper and less dangerous to call a professional.

Beekeepers are in the phone book.

My aunt kept tending to bees until they killed her.

I had a colony of wasps so large they would hum and wake us up. One day I soaked a large cotton ball with wasp spray and put it on a long stick. walked to the nest in my house and plugged up the hole. A century bee saw me and stung me..My arm hurt like it was on fire all week long. It was hurting so much I couldn't pick anything up.

So play it safe. Killer bees are mixing with hives all over the US now.
