What is the best way to tuck in the flat sheet on your bed?

Im 26 and I dont know how to make my bed lol! (I guess I dont know it all...) Anyway, my friend showed me really quickly one night, and I cant remember what she did. I just remember that it left the top sheet nice and tight. I Just shove the corners under... I would like to master a better method!

I dont know if this makes a difference but we have a queen that has a headboard and footboard.

What is the best way to tuck in the flat sheet on your bed?
You can try making the bed in this quite simple way just follow these steps...

1. Take the sheet and make two knots in the two corners of the sheet on the same side. (in case you leave the other side flowing down to cover what is underneath your bed..)

2. Tuck the two knots underneath each of the corners of the bed.

3. Adjust the knots so that the knots get totally trapped under the bed nice and tight.

4. Pull the sheet so as to remove any wrinkles present and leave the other side of the sheet as it is. this could help you cover what is beneath the bed..

Try this to tuck all the corners in..

Tie the knots on the opposite corners.. thereby you can put the first knot underneath the bed first and then you can pull the sheet tightly and put the second knot underneath the other corner of the bed... the other two corners can be tucked as it is.. or you can put knots if you wish...

Try it and see... it is working for me .. hope it works for you too...

Cheers for a well organised living...!!
Reply:I've learned to make my bed by simply aligning my flat sheet with my comforter and swishing it up and carefully laying it down in two simple motions. The flat sheet size must match the comforter size for this to work nearly perfect. This execise matches my prefferred way of being nearly instantly comfortable when I enter my bed to sleep. I've done the hospital corner method and end up fighting to free my legs and torso to just to find my comfortable 'nesting' level of security and warmth. I've lost many quality hours of sleep to what amounts to minutes of frustrating tugs of war with the sheets. Sorry I did'nt answer your inquiery to your anticipated answer but, I hope that my advice is not lost upon you.
Reply:I believe there is a military fold that people do with the corner try you tube they have a how to for everything .
Reply:Tuck in the bottom sheet then take the side and make a mitered corner then tuck it in . This is a hospital corner.

That should do it... Enjoy the feel of a bed well made!
Reply:Your friend probably showed the 'hospital corner'. It is very neat and firm and really holds in place.

I'll describe the bottom of the bed, but you do the same with the top!

Take enough sheet to go under the base of the mattress, then at each corner lift the sheet at the side and put a triangular shape of it at the top of the bed, thus leaving the side of the sheet parallel with the floor. This you smoothly tuck under the mattress using the whole of your forearm in one quick movement. You are left with the top loose triangular piece of sheet which you bring down and tuck in under the mattress, over the first tucking in. In this way you have made a mitred edge.....and practice makes perfect!

All four corners are done in similar fashion.

(My 93 year old mother (who was a nurse) taught me this when I was 12 and I've always been grateful to her. She'd be glad to know I was passing on her well practised art!)
