If the book that Rushdie wrote had anything insulting about Christianity or Judaism then the queen wouldn't have given him the knighthood.....if the only reason she did wasn't to put down the Muslims, it would be less vulgar..the governments of the western countries have this gnawing hatred towards the Muslims and will do anything to bring them down. She probably never even read the book herself since it said some very vulgar things about her and tony Blair. basically the only message behind protecting Rushdie is that they are saying that the support and stand by the people who disrespect Islam and that is the only reason she knighted Rushdie!

I agree that the Queen ought to be able to present a Knighthood to any author she wishes but I think that with things as they are at present this was an unwise action.
Reply:It was Tony Blair who suggest Salman Rushdie for the Knighthood. It always the Prime Minister who decided who get what honours. Example OBE, CBE, MBE, Knighthood Damehood.
Reply:regardless of the Iranian Fatwa, The United Kingdom recognises and allows free speech. Salman Rushdie is a Booker (and numerous other) Prize winning author that is a British citizen with British-Indian heritage so is more than entitled to the honour
