My queen took 3 kittens out of their box last night and wrapped them in a blanket on the floor. Why? R they sic

My kittens are now 5 days old, and last night their mother took them out of the box they have been slepping in since they were born. I found them snuggled, wrapped in a blanket on the floor. Yesturday, she had taken one out and was carrying it around in her mouth, after she let it milk off her right in front of me, it seemed as though she was trying to find somewhere to hide it. I hope this does not mean they'er sick! Does anyone have any other suggestion as to why. Is this kind of normal?

they like their babies to be safe, and this is usually in a quiet place where no humans tend to go a lot. if you a fussing over the babies (like always peeking into the baset and stroking them etc) she may feel threatened and move them. shes just a really loving mother! she will let them get on with it after a few weeks when they start to move around on their own. dont fuss over the mother too much and put her food and water near her basket. hope this helps :)
Reply:I agree that she is just trying to find them a nice quiet place for her to raise them. Make her a nest box in a closet and leave the door ajar so she can get in and out. Move the kittens to that box and see if she leaves them. If not, just let her move them to where she feels its safe. She may move them daily until she finds a nice spot.
Reply:Sounds totally normal. Cats often move their kittens a few times when they are little. It's a protection thing. They keep them were it's nice and quiet and they feel safe. If she is still feeding them and they look healthy, let her move them to where she feels comfortable and you can always move her box to the new spot.
Reply:My aunt had a siamese who became pregnant but when she delivered all she had was one pure black kitten. She used to take it and hide it in the laundry closet all the time because people wouldn't leave it alone. Is anyone in your house always handling the kittens?
Reply:mouther cat will move there young many times while they are nursing. I guess it is in there instinct to stay ahead of the predators until the young are able to hide on there own.
Reply:Sometimes cats will move babies if they feel they are unsafe. They will always carry the babies in their mouths, thats not unusual. A lot of times a mother either will not nurse a sick kitten, or she'll eat it, depending on the age. However moving them, and covering them up to keep them warm isn't unusual. Has anyone bothered her 'nest' recently?
