the voice sounds inhuman like the highest note on a violin-what a recording, the singer Louisa somehting. If I'm taken by this piece, what else will I love?
Amadeus soundtrack! that high note from Queen of the night?
Check out YouTube for Olympia's song (Doll Aria), there is also a version sung by a male, which is quite impressive, though hasn't really got the coloratura right.
Also check out MADO ROBIN she does a wonderful G6 or something, I dont' remember.
THe recording quality is low though, she's dead long ago now.
To find more on Der Holle Rache, try
Diana Damru
Sumi Jo
Ewa Goldewska (not sure if I spelt her right)
and for extreme vocal control try
Agitata Da Due Venti by preferablly Cecilia Bartoli
or Venti Turbini (titled under Lascia Chio Pianga by the latter aria on youtube)
All these mentioned are availabe on YouTube
Enjoy!
Reply:i think you will love the aria of the Olympia (also called the Doll song) from Les Contes d'Hoffmann by Jacques Offenbach. (both versions sung by Sumi Jo)
the opera version

Reply:Try some other soprano coloratura pieces. Here's a few examples:
The character of Lakme from the Delibes opera of the same name (Lakme) ("Ou va la jeune Indoue", for instance).
"The Doll Song" from Tales of Hoffman by Offenbach
The role of Gilda from Verdi's Rigoletto ("Caro Nome che il mio cor").
Violetta from La Traviata ("Ah, fors' e lui che l'anima").
Donna Anna in Mozart's Don Giovanni.
Oh, and I have to recommend listening to anything performed by Anna Netrebko. I adore her voice.
Reply:try" una voce poco fa" from the Barber of Seville by Rossini. Youtube has Teresa Berganza singing it. Sumi Jo does a good version too.
